Current News!

I know, it's been a while since I've posted anything. 5 months to be more accurate. =D But in other news, this fall/winter I'm definitely going to try and get myself back into the groove of writing. Lately, I've been trying to re-vamp my style, nothing extreme or completely unlike me, but just trying to awaken the old Ebz. She was fun, spontaneous, playful, crazy, and different from her peers. I feel that in the past few years I've sort of fallen into the crowd, so it's time to come back strong. Lol

In other great, stepping out of the crowd news; I'm getting my hair colored for the first time since going natural. I had tried to do demi-permanent color before, but because my hair is so dark, it never showed. So now I'm going lighter than I ever had before. I'd have to admit, I'm mighty nervous about the damage that my lack of moisturizing will do as well as my hair getting over process damaged. But it is the beginning of me not being so timid and just having fun with my hair and life. I will definitely post pictures here and on my fotki.

Along with new hair, I'm getting new glasses too! I've been searching awhile for a pair of purple frames. Purple in fact is my favorite color, yet I could never find a decent pair that would look right on me. So here they are:
The Electric Tonette purple frames. They remind me of Ray Bans but they are less expensive. I have yet to try these on just yet, but because I'm ordering them I don't think I'll get the chance anytime soon. But if I don't like them, I have 90 days to turn them back in. Which is great! That's definitely enough time to figure out whether or not I look good in them. Dontcha' think?

Well that's all I have for now. I have been trying out some new ways of doing my hair aswell as experimenting with the Kinky-Curly brand. I really like it alot. Keeps my hair moisturized for a very long time, I haven't had that ever. But we shall see. It's only been my first go at it, haven't given it enough usage to make an accurate review, but when I do, I will definitely post it.

Well until next time, that's all folks!!

Experimenting Again!

The last time I went out to the Indian store to buy my powders I also purchased a can of coconut milk for $.99. I figured it was cheaper to purchase here than at a regular grocery store and if I wanted to try it out as a pre-poo or DC at least I wouldn't feel bad about wasting it if it didn't turn out great. Today I finally decided to try it mixed with coconut oil and honey. I wanted to put in a lot of moisture in my hair since I plan to blow dry today (let me reiterate 'plan to') for my best friend's graduation ceremony. I'm still unsure of what styling I'm going to do with it for tonight but if everything turns out well at least I know how to bring in more moisture *cross your fingers*

I did no measuring with the coconut milk, oil and honey. I mixed the oil and milk together because it made for less of a mess, and just poured the honey into my palm and then glazed over my hair. Right now it's covered by a plastic cap and towel to keep heat in there. It's actually nice to say that my hair is so much longer now that I need double coverage. :) I'll come back to show my results from this second coconut experiment.

Coconut Oil and Conditioner Experimenting

Today I decided to try something new with refreshing my hair. I didn't keep my twists in as long as I wanted to. I kept them in for only 4 days maybe. I was having mixed feelings about them and really wanted to wear my hair out, since I hadn't in a while. Back to what I was saying though, instead of my usual conditioner and water that I'd crunch into my hair to moisturize and loosen the curls and frizzes; or my conditioner, water, oils spray I saw a few videos on coconut oil and how some people completely coat their hair with the oil before shampooing to make sure that their hair doesn't get to dry. Others coat there hair as a good oil rinse and apply heat for an even better hot oil treatment. I didn't have time for either, so instead I just dug out a gallop organic unrefined coconut oil that I got from Whole Foods and coated my hair with it. The idea was I would on a normal day wait until my hair was dry after a good co-wash or deep condition to make sure that I seal my ends. This time I figured, for some stranger reason, coating the hair with oil then scrunching it with water and coating it with conditioner would be a better idea. Just experimenting with my curiosity.

Well it's the end of the day and my hair is fluffy and soft. I didn't scrunch a ton of water in my hair which I believe was key to the whole experiment. I just rubbed my hands underneath the faucet and scrunched my hair, rubbed some Aussie Moisture Conditioner over my tresses and hopped right-on out; that simple. As I said my results were soft, mildly frizzy, fluffy, defined and curly hair. Also on to another thought, I found that after untwisting my two strand twists I found that crunching product or just plain ole water into my hair gives me very defined, and clumpy curls. They stay in a similar shape from the twists but shrink up more and are so bouncy with movement. I love it.

Will do whenever I don't feel like washing and going through the long drying process.

Peace.

A Twist in Delay

So instead of doing my first review on the DevaCare products I decided to put my twists in. I found a few weeks ago that after leaving in my two strand twists for a week I had a lot less shedding and tangles; even after a week had already passed with my hair out. I really wanted to try the Deva Care products this weekend, but right now I'm really concentrating on my hairs growth and health rather than style. I've been using my MegaTek blend and have noticed a significant amount of growth, but instead of talking about it I'd rather show my results when it's time. But anyways, back to my original thought.

My twists, the last time I decided to put my twists in I wanted to use the Hairveda Green Tea Butter as a styling and moisturising agent. The twists were pretty soft going in but the moisture didn't really last. I also noticed that I didn't have a lot of shine and my twists didn't feel as smooth. This time around I decided to use Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in and Hairveda Whipped Clouds. I wasn't sure how I was going to use the Whipped Clouds because it never worked with my slick backs or wash n go styles. Luckily, I saw a major difference when I added this to my twist routine. It had major shine and my hair felt incredibly soft. I have some pictures that I'd like to show but can't seem to find my cord but when I do, I will definitely show my results.

New Buys

So this will be my introduction entry.

Today I went out to the Ulta store in Cerritos and purchased the DevaCare One Condition and DevaCurl Set It Free. I have been reading raves about this product for almost a year now and I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase it. The SIF was $17.95 in the store rather than $7.95 like I had planned on purchasing from curlmart.com, so I was a bit suprised but I decided that I need to try it out and not feel like I wasted 30-40 minutes of driving. I plan on using both of these products in the next couple of days and reviewing them(My FIRST Review!). We'll see if it's truely what it's cracked up to be.

I also went to the Indian Markets and purchased some more 200mg of Hesh Amla powder, Vatika oil and Shikakai Oil. About a year ago I had started the Ayurvedic hair care regimen, but I stopped due to transportation and time issues. I will be switching off with the Vatika, Coconut, Grapeseed & Ylang Ylang, and Shikakai oil, if I like it. I just recently tried the grapeseed and ylang ylang mix, have no really feeling about it just yet but I'll monitor my results as I go.

Now, enough hair stuff on to my other purchases. I was able to find two really cute scarfs that I will be using as headwraps when the weather gets hotter and I get lazier. I'll have pictures of me wearing those aswell. Well that's all I have for today, wore a twist-out-gone-wrong today but I worked with it. Until next time.

Peace,

Ebz
